Capital budgeting : planning and control of capital expenditures
Published in Unknown Binding by Prentice-Hall ()

Hard to find, keep it on your Library
Keep this one in your Library, it is difficult to findThe content is very clear, the exercises are complete and there are lots of examples. I specially like the cases based on real businesses. I used this book with an Advanced Finance class of my MBA program.
For those who like modeling there is a section dedicated to LP, IP and GP, very well explained but no Excel or LINDO solutions though.
If you are one that have fun with decision sciences, you can go ahead and solve them using solver or LINDO.
Overall, I recommend it for those looking to keep a good Capital Budgeting book.

Truly TruthThis book is about a young girl (Larceny) Who finds herself living on the streets.. It is about her incounters with other people and her seroundings. It isnt just about a girl on the street. It talks about her and her parents and how her spirit lowers and rises and lowers and rises. Definitly a great book for young adults
Read this book, people! I don't want to be the only one!Okay, so right now I'm the only person with anything to say about this book, I just hope that now that someone has said something, other people will buy this book. Avon Tempest has the greatest authors with the best books, how do they do it? This one is set in Australia, the main character being an unstable fifteen year old who thinks she has killed someone, so she runs away. She does, however, manage to stay on top of everything, which is a lot!Read this book, and enjoy it as much as I did, then find other avon tempest books to enjoy as well!

Charbonneau, Man of Two Dreams: A Novel
Published in Hardcover by Nash Pub Co (April, 1975)
Average review score:

Engaging Fur Trade NovelBlevins brings to light the somewhat obscure life of Sacajawea's son, Jean Baptiste Charbonneau, and weaves it into an enjoyable and meaningful novel. Charbonneau was half Indian and half white, which explains his dilemma of being torn between two worlds. Taken into custody by William Clark, Charbonneau begins his early education in both Protestant and Catholic schools in St. Louis, goes to Europe with Prince Paul of Wurttemberg for six years to continue his education and culture, comes back to St. Louis and then enters the fur trade. As the years go by, we see how he attempts to balance himself between the Indian and white man's world. Blevins' writing is very descriptive in detail, particulars and trivia of the present moment. It is as though he himself was there and lived it. I do not normally read fiction based on fact, but this is an exception to the rule.
Excellent Fur Trade Era NovelThis book is a fictional biography of Jean Baptiste Charbonneau, the son of Sacagawea and Toussaint Charbonneau. Very little is known of Jean Baptiste but Blevins imaginatively builds his novel around the small historical record. His characterization is plausible and enjoyable to read. It contains many vignettes that relate to events in the Fur Trade Era so interest is maintained. It is remarkable that Blevins was able to capture many insights into what it is like to be a half-breed. My Mother was Pawnee and my Dad was of Scottish extraction. I can vouch for some of the more contemplative passages in the novel that express Jean Baptiste's feelings regarding his special social status. For buckskinners, this is an important piece of literature that helps to fully express the society of the fur trade. For everyone else, it is just a good read.

Informative!!!This is a wonderful resource tool. If your particular ministry is struggling or is in a bind, this resource offers helpful Godly solutions that very well may be the answer to your prayers.
Excellent Information Source for Christian EducationI just finished reading this book (9-15-00). It is a great compilation of articles written by different people on the subject of "Christian Education." It covers the Nature of CE, the Teaching-Learning Process, and relates it all the to scriptures and the church. It is a tremendous resource for CE because at the end of each chapter there are included many other resource books for further reading and research. It is well written and well documented.

Christian Philosophy of Education
Published in Paperback by Trinity Foundation (January, 1988)
Average review score:

Education May Not Be What You Think It IsDr. Clark offers a truly coherent philosophy of education. He debunks the myth that education is the largely ineffective and irrelevant social construct that it so often appears to be when it is dispensed by those who aren't so logical as Clark. In doing so, he offers hope to those who wish to be educated and who wish to transmit their education to others.
Excellent treatment of what education is really aboutThis collection of Clark's writings -- including the transcript of his appearance before Congress to oppose the formation of the Dept of Education in 1926 -- is an excellent treatment of what education is really all about. His support for learning ones "facts" as a pre-requisite to "original" thought is a striking rebuke to those wedded to a fanciful notion that school's are to foster an atmosphere in which the student is left to his own thoughts. First let him learn what has come before. Again, the emphasis on teachers learning their subject rather than educational methods stands against the current trend, as does his insistence that in education we do not seek to turn out children like automobiles (all alike in their thinking), but rather Clark exalts individuality in education and thus opposes a state-run educational system intended to produce uniformity. Finally, Clark cannot help tying together his overarching philosophy that all we do must ! be to the Glory of God, not the exaltation of man, and in this context he sets a framework upon which true wisdom (not mere learning) can be constructed.

Clark and Menefee
Published in Hardcover by Princeton Architectural Press (May, 2000)
Average review score:

Wonderful Architectural ApologiaThis is a small, exciting, book that packs in big ideas. To paraphrase Mr. Clark, building rises to the level of "architecture" when it atones for the loss nature suffers through human intervention by replacing nature with something that can be seen as beautiful and necessary...Anything short of this high standard is "only building." This book, then, explains and illustrates the architecture of Clark and Menefee through fifteen projects (a few unbuilt) which were undertaken before the firm dissolved in 1999.
The layout of the book is beautiful. Floor plans are included as well as architectural drawings. There is one quibble: all of the photos are black and white. This makes the book very much in vogue with what is perceived as "high art" - but the wonderful color photo on the jacket makes one hungry for more.
Clark & MenefeeA well designed and beautiful book of the competitions and completed built work of this well known firm. The text is readable and thoughtful, and superb and restrained graphics accompany numerous black and white photographs of many private houses closed to the public.

The Complete Idiot's Guide to 401(k) Plans (2nd Edition)
Published in Paperback by Alpha Communications (15 October, 2001)
Average review score:

savings helpful infothese series of books are always goodin my opinion. this one took the often tedious confusing facts and presented everything in an easy format to read
401K made easywith all the IDIOTS guides easy to read format, this book provides an in depth look at 401K issues that may have otherwise been much drier if not done in this fun format. when i finished thebook, i lent it to my staff, who are first time 401K investors. i would say that this is a must buy for anyone who feels they are intimidated with 'what to do?' or 'what does this mean?' type of questions.

Computer-Aided Multivariate Analysis
Published in Library Binding by Chapman & Hall (June, 1996)
Average review score:

Only a limited knowledge of statistics is assumed!Often, students and researchers need to perform multivariate statistical analyses on their data. Unfortunately, a lack of mathematical training prevents many from taking advantage of advanced techniques, in part, because books focus on the theory and neglect explaining how to perform and interpret multivariate analyses on real-life data. Computer-Aided Multivariate Analysis is a welcome exception, helping students choose the appropriate analyses for their data, carry them out and interpret the results. Only a limited knowledge of statistics is assumed and geometrical and graphical explanations are used to explain what the analyses do. However the basic model is always given and assumptions are discussed. In this edition the computer emphasis is enhanced by the inclusion of three additional statistical packages written for the personal computer. The authors also discuss data entry, database management, data screening, data transformations, as well as multivariate data analysis. This third edition contains a new chapter on log-linear analysis of multi-way frequency tables.
Excellent, low-key intro to many techniquesWhile this book will not teach you all you need to know about any of the techniques to be an expert, it WILL teach you enough to read research, and to learn what the various techniques do.
The mathematical level is moderate, and the emphasis is on practical applications.
Highly recommended for grad students in the social sciences

Corner of Divisadero and Whatever
Published in Hardcover by Xlibris Corporation (November, 2001)
Average review score:

Cool BookAny one human can resonate with this work of verse. Superficiality has no place on the pages of this book, nor between the lines, except to be scorned. Despite the mandatory disclaimer at the beginning, this book is for real. Kevyn made sure of that. Although completely original, one cannot help notice the Bukowski - Morrison nuances in style and substance.
This Book Hits HomeAfter reading this book of poetry, prose and free verse in almost one sitting, I feel as if I've been on a ride along side the author, backstage pass and all. No holds are barred. As Grateful Dead Lyricist Robert Hunter said, Kevyn's head is filled with interesting monsters. A very eloquent ride indeed.

The Counterfeit

The CounterfeitI don't normally read Romance books, but this one caught my eye because it was also listed as Suspense. It sounded like a good, light read for the beach. What a great little book! It was fun to read, very entertaining, very well written, well researched, and was exciting. I usually guess endings and did not for this book. I would highly recommend this book. The balance between suspense and sex is perfect! I'm looking forward to Helma Clark's next book.
A Sophisticated New Voice in Romantic SuspenseHelma Clark has penned another winner with her newest romantic suspense novel, The Counterfeit. If you liked The Big Game, you will find this author's newest offering even more enjoyable. Ms. Clark's quick witted heroine will keep you turning the pages past midnight, with dialogue and relationships that keep the plot line hopping. Be ready for unpredictable twists and turns in this superbly sophisticated new novel.
